Voters in training

Leaded by the Forum jeunesse de l'Île-de-Montréal, Voters in training is an election simulation pedagogical project that was held in secondary schools of Québec and in youth organizations during the last municipal and federal elections. The project aimed at initiating youth and making them aware of the electoral process, the right to vote, the political institutions as well as with the role that citizens can have in a democracy. Voters in training was a unique opportunity for young people to structure their opinions, to develop their critical sense and to participate to a public discussion. Through many different activities, the student got familiar with the electoral stakes, the political programs from each party, the candidates and the party leaders. Furthermore, the student had the opportunity to voice his concerns, to get acquainted with reading different newspapers, participate to debates, to carry out a survey and much more.
